***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***

JCLGO HOSTS ANNUAL JERSEY CITY LGBT
PRIDE WEEK & PRIDE FESTIVAL

Jersey City Lesbian + Gay Outreach, Inc (JCLGO) will host a week-long series of events celebrating the LGBT Community from August 19-August 25 during JCLGO’s annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Week & Pride Festival. The week’s activities culminate with Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival on Saturday, August 25, from noon to 8 pm.

According to JCLGO Executive Director, Catherine Hecht, “Our theme—Live and Let Love— reflects the spirit of allowing individuals to lead their lives and to love who they choose and celebrates the recent victories the LGBT community has had with Civil Unions while continuing to push our movement forward towards full Marriage Equality.”

JCLGO’s 7th annual Jersey City Pride Festival, "Live & Let Love" will be held Saturday, August 25th, 2007, from 2 pm-8 pm at Exchange Place in Jersey City and includes a Rally with speakers, entertainers, and a dance. There is also a huge Market Space with all kinds of food, merchandise vendors, and organizations from 12 ( noon)- 8pm.

JCLGO is excited to announce that confirmed speakers include: Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy and Hudson County Executive Thomas A. DeGise.

Independent recording artist and political activist Corey Andrew has also been confirmed to perform. Andrews, a local Jersey City resident, has received praise from various publications including Next. He recently gained national notoriety for exposing the homophobic and racist comments of a US Army recruiter.

Last year’s Pride event was attended by close to 10,000 people from across New Jersey and New York City. This year’s event promises to be even larger.

JCLGO’s Annual LGBT Pride Week includes events such as a Pre-Party kick off, the Rainbow Flag Raisings at both Jersey City-City Hall and The Hudson County Brennan Court House, a Youth Event, an LGBT Art Show, a Woman’s Dance, and much more.

There are several ways for you and your organization or business to participate. We encourage you to contact us to become a volunteer, vendor, sponsor, entertainer and to advertise in our JC Pride Guide.

This event is brought to you by JCLGO and in part by support from our event sponsors: Bank of America, CareerBuilder, Duggal Visual Solutions, GONYC Magazine, Hamilton Square, Icelandair, KTU, Liberty Travel, Metro Source, Minuteman Press, Next Magazine, NJ Transit, Out In Jersey and Verizon. JCLGO especially wishes to thank Hudson County, County Executive Thomas A. DeGise, Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, the City Council, and Jersey City’s Office of Cultural Affairs.
