RAINBOW FLAGS TO RISE OVER JERSEY CITY

As part of 2007 Jersey City Pride Week activities sponsored by Jersey City Lesbian + Gay Outreach, Inc. (JCLGO), the Rainbow Flag, the universal historic symbol of LGBT Pride, will be raised above both City Hall in Jersey City and The William Brennan Hudson County Court.

On Monday, Aug. 20, at 6 pm, the Rainbow Flag will be raised at City Hall, 280 Grove Street, Jersey City, NJ. Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy will preside over the event. After the ceremony, a small reception will be held in City Hall’s Second Floor Rotunda.

On Tuesday, Aug. 21, at 6 pm, the Rainbow Flag will be raised over The William Brennan Hudson County Court House, 581 Newark Ave., Jersey City, NJ, at 6 pm. Hudson County Executive Thomas A. DeGise will preside over the event.

Immediately following the event, a reception will be held at The William Brennan Hall Court House, 581 Newark Ave., Jersey City, NJ.

During the reception at the Hudson County Court House, Proclaimations of Achievement will be award to Hudson County individuals who have made significant contributions to the LGBT community over the past year.

The Rainbow Flag Raisings are part Jersey City Pride Week. The week’s activities culminate with Jersey City Pride Festival on Saturday, August 25, from noon to 8 pm.
