Annual LGBT Pride Festival

Jersey City Lesbian + Gay Outreach ( JCLGO) will host the 7th Annual Jersey City LGBT Pride Festival on Saturday, August 25, 2007. The event will take place in the Exchange Place neighborhood which offers the backdrop of the NYC skyline while the festivities take place in the heart of Jersey City’s new and growing skyline. Although we thought the festival may be displaced, Jersey City has confirmed that we will enjoy the same great location at Exchange Place with easy access via PATH, Light Rail, Bus, and Car or by foot again this year.
This year’s theme, ‘Live and Let Love’ reflects the spirit of allowing individuals to lead their lives and to love whom they so choose. It celebrates the social and political acceptance that Jersey City continues to offer and promote. Jersey City residents, businesses and government now work together in focusing on the things that matter such as the economic growth in the city, promoting safety and preventing crime rather than wasting energy in developing political obstacles that impair a person rights because of the gender of whom they choose to love.
JCLGO anticipates gaining attendance this year due to the increased recognition and size of its LGBT community. This expectation is well grounded based upon several factors. As an organization that partnered with other Organizations, JCLGO made great progress in fulfilling its mission to be a Vital Voice and was successful in reaching out to the local community and playing a role in the passage of New Jersey’s Civil Union legislation. Several events on the road to Civil Unions including February 19 th’s “PATH to Equality” rally brought recognition to the size and strength of Jersey City’s LGBT community. Since last year, JCLGO social and fundraising events have seen significant increases in attendance and support. We have seen new LGBT organizations emerge and established ones grow and step up their efforts for expansion to accommodate the increasing size of the community. The businesses and organizations that have made significant contributions to support Jersey City Pride have enjoyed the support that has been given back to them as well.

you and your organization or business to participate. I encourage you
to investigate the possibility of participating as a Sponsor (multiple

the festival on August 25 th, please review the attached “Vendor Rules
and Information” and return the Application as indicated. Lastly, whether
you are a participating Sponsor, Vendor or unable to attend, advertising
opportunities in our Jersey City Pride Festival Journal are available and
